Close to the sea, try and keep the blind in a pulled-up position when windows are fully opened. This will deter the build-up of salt deposits on the slats, thus giving the blind a longer life span. These blinds should be dusted regularly, but should you need to clean the blinds, use a damp cloth to wipe over each slat. The blind should be completely dry before being pulled up again.
Our blinds are supplied with ladder string which is colour-coordinated to the colour of the blind. They come standard with wood valances, wood bottom rails, and wood tassels and only come in 50mm slatting.
Wood Venetian blinds are not a total blackout product. The blinds will give the privacy required but will still allow light into the room.
The slats must always be in a completely open position before pulling the blind up. Fading will occur especially in darker colours.
BASSWOOD 50MM VENETIAN BLINDS
This product is only available with a slat width of 50mm.
Being true wood products, they are crafted from the finest quality Basswood. As this is a natural product, variation in colour, grain texture, and warping can occur. These natural characteristics will depend on the environment in which the forests are grown as well as from which section of the tree the wood is cut. These are NOT flaws in the wood/product.
Wood Venetians cannot be guaranteed against a natural tendency to warp even though we make use of finger-joined processes especially if used in extremely humid/wet areas, therefore one must be careful not to install them in areas where ventilation is minimal (e.g. bathrooms). Remember all wood still remains natural!
Never clean a wooden blind with a thinner-based solvent, this would remove the topcoat on the slats and cause irreparable damage to the blind. – rather use a soft duster and/or cloth to dust off the slats.
NB! Slats must be tilted to the open position before the blind is pulled up.
Please note that if a Basswood blind has a width of 500mm or less the control mechanisms (Cord lock and tilter) will be split. The side on which the cord lock is situated will be referred to as the control side.

Venetian Blinds, Why?
Venetian blinds, with their timeless appeal and versatility, have long been a popular choice for window treatments. These horizontal window blinds have been a mainstay in the world of interior design for decades, offering a combination of style and practicality that makes them a favorite among homeowners and designers alike.
The term "Venetian blinds" is somewhat of a misnomer, as their origins do not actually trace back to Venice. The term "Venetian" in this context simply refers to the style and design of these blinds. In fact, the concept of horizontal slats for controlling light and privacy dates back much further in history, with origins possibly in ancient Persia. Venetian blinds, as we know them today, were likely perfected in the 18th century in France.
These blinds typically consist of horizontal slats, usually made of wood, aluminum, or PVC, suspended from a string or cord. The slats can be tilted to allow different levels of light and visibility into a room, making them a versatile choice for window coverings. With their adjustable design, Venetian blinds provide homeowners with the ability to control the amount of natural light entering a room, ensuring both privacy and illumination can be tailored to their liking.
One of the reasons Venetian blinds have featured prominently in homes and offices for centuries is their remarkable adaptability. They come in various sizes, materials, and colors, allowing them to complement a wide range of interior styles. Whether you have a traditional or contemporary home, you can find Venetian blinds that suit your decor.
There are several compelling reasons why Venetian blinds continue to be a popular choice for window treatments:
Light Control: Venetian blinds excel at managing light levels in a room. By simply adjusting the slats, you can create the perfect balance of natural light and privacy. This makes them an ideal choice for bedrooms, living rooms, and offices where varying light levels are often desired.
Privacy: The ability to tilt the slats allows you to control the outside view while still maintaining privacy inside. You can angle the slats to block prying eyes while still enjoying some natural light.
Easy Maintenance: Venetian blinds are relatively easy to clean and maintain. Regular dusting or a wipe-down with a damp cloth is typically all that's required to keep them looking their best.
Durability: Depending on the material you choose, Venetian blinds can be highly durable. Wood blinds, for instance, are known for their longevity. This makes them a cost-effective option in the long run.
Versatility: Venetian blinds come in a range of materials and finishes, making it easy to find an option that complements your decor. They can be customized to fit various window sizes and shapes, allowing for a cohesive look throughout your home.
In addition to these practical advantages, Venetian blinds are also appreciated for their aesthetic appeal. Their clean lines and simple design make them a timeless addition to any space. They can create a polished, uncluttered look while offering functionality that few other window treatments can match.
Venetian blinds are an enduring choice for window treatments that have stood the test of time for good reasons. Their versatility, light control, and durability make them a practical choice, while their timeless design ensures they remain a stylish addition to any interior. Whether you're looking for a classic or contemporary solution for your windows, Venetian blinds offer a winning combination of form and function.
